Police veteran continuing on in race for sheriff
KENT COUNTY, Mich. (WZZM)- A former deputy of chief for the Grand Rapids Police Department is continuing on in the race for Kent County Sheriff.
The primary race was called in favor of James Farris Tuesday night. With 50 percent of precincts reporting, Farris had 4,533 votes; Democratic contender Michael Scruggs garnered 2,413 votes.
Farris will face Republican Incumbent Larry Stelma in the November election.
