GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) -- If 61% of Grand Rapids are in poor condition, the group that surveyed the city's roads hopes the people who use those thoroughfares daily will have some ideas on the best way to improve them.
The Grand Rapids Sustainable Streets Task Force held a public meeting at Harrison Park Elementary on Davis Ave. NW. The goal of the meeting was to get citizen input in setting a vision for the future of city streets.
People attending the forum were asked to name their picks for the best and worst streets in the city, and to outline the impact the streets -- and their condition -- have on neighborhoods, businesses, and the ability to move around Grand Rapids.
The input from this meeting and others will be used to help the task force come up with plans on improving streets -- and paying for the improvements. The task force's recommendations will be given to city leaders at the end of the year.
