GRAND RAPIDS (WZZM) - The intersection at Michigan and Fuller is back open to traffic a week ahead of schedule. The intersection re-opened around Noon on Saturday. The intersection closed on Saturday April 11 at 4:00 p.m. for a concrete overhaul.

The construction was supposed to take about two weeks, but crews working 10-12 hour shifts and good weather allowed construction finish in half of the scheduled time.

Grand Rapids Police say they issued 64 tickets to drivers cutting through business parking lots to avoid detours, each ticket cost drivers $170 and two points on their license.
