Kent ISD unveils Kent Innovation High School | Education

GRAND RAPIDS TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZZM) - The Kent Intermediate School District unveiled a new high school and it's unlike any other in West Michigan.

Kent Innovation High School is based what officials call a hands-on approach to learning. It incorporates team learning and use of technology. School leaders say the 21st century learning model will prepare students for real life careers and problems. They say one of the biggest teaching challenges is the pace at which the world is evolving.

"One of the key concepts that we have to deal with is that we can't just teach them what we know, we have to teach them how to learn things that we don't even know yet," says Bill Smith, of Kent ISD.

Kent Innovation High School will open this fall.
