Register soon to bring your family out to Blandford Nature Center for a fun snow day!


Your family will have an exciting day of snowshoe hiking into the woods, where practicing makes perfect with these giant stepping tools. Then off to a spot to build your own snow creations. Hot chocolate awaits your family at the Visitor Center, as the perfected snowshoe process maneuvers you back.

Family Snow Day takes place on Saturday, January 14, 2017 from 2:00-3:30pm. This event is for participants ages, 7 & older.

Blandford Nature Center is located at 1715 Hillburn Ave. NW in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Cost is $3 for members & $6 for non-members. Snowshoe rentals are $5 per person.

The community is invited to a free Jazz musical evening with incredible arrangements of J.J. Johnson & Kai Winding, the renowned jazz duo!

Adults can register soon to enjoy an evening of crisp winter surroundings.

Blandford Nature Center invites the community to take to the woods on Thursday, December 1 from 6:30pm – 8:00pm. This is the chance to discover your nocturnal listening & night vision skills on the longest night of the year.

The Junior League of Grand Rapids invite the community to attend this Beneath the Wreath fundraiser, while supporting the projects that help to improve children’s physical health.

Great holiday gifts can be found this Friday, November 4 from 9:00am - 8:00pm and Saturday, November 5 from 9:00am – 4:00pm. Visit St. Nicholas Cultural Center located at 2250 East Paris Avenue SE in Grand Rapids.

These important projects are funded by the generous 15% donation of selected exhibitor’s sales, along with 100% tickets sales.

Volunteer Orientation

Giving back to the community is a fulfilling purpose and helping an adult, improve their English language, reading and writing skills is the perfect opportunity.

This orientation gives possible volunteers an understanding of the Literacy Center of West Michigan programs, the chance to meet a staff member, learn how to volunteer to assist an adult who is working to better their language skills, while interacting with those who have the same literacy enthusiasm.

Public Night at the Observatory on Saturday

Public Night at the Observatory on Saturday

The public is invited to experience sky objects above, 2 Saturdays a month through October at the James C. Veen Observatory.

Visitors have the opportunity to experience the night skies on Saturday, September 24 from 8:30pm to midnight with Veen Observatory telescopes and member’s equipment. The night sky will feature Saturn and Neptune, along with deep Sky Objects such as nebulas, galaxies & various star clusters.This is also a chance to tour the facility & check out the audio visual presentation about the Observatory & the GRAAA.

This Public Night takes place only if the sky is clear. Starting times vary with the sunset. It is a quarter mile walk from the parking area to the top of the hill. If need, ask the lot attendant about assistance to the Observatory.
