"Local First put together the Local Treasure Hunts as a fun way for families to get out and experience new local businesses and old favorites," said Elissa Hillary, executive director of Local First. "The businesses involved are local treasures in our community – they make our neighborhoods more vibrant and add to our quality of life."

To start the hunt, visit each stop in your community and text in a unique code to the number posted. If you visit three to six businesses, you will be entered to win prizes from each Local Treasure Hunt stop. This includes gift cards and swag from each business involved – there are over 40 prizes up for grabs in each community! If you visit seven to ten businesses, you could win a grand prize in your community.

The Grand Rapids grand prize includes a night's stay at the Amway Grand Hotel, tickets to the Whitecaps and passes to AJ's Family Fun Center, and a $100 gift card to Twisted Rooster. The Lakeshore grand prize includes a night's stay at CityFlatsHotel – Holland, passes to BAM!, and a $100 gift card to Salt & Pepper. The Lakeshore hunt has an additional prize from The Sand & Stone Gallery (can also be used in JP Gems) - one $500 gift certificate and 10 $100 gift certificates to be used in either store.

The Local Treasure Hunt is free to participate in. No purchases are necessary to be entered to win prizes.

The Local Treasure Hunt is part of the Discover Your Local Treasure initiative that Local First began last fall, which features local businesses in West Michigan that contribute to our quality of life and to our community in a meaningful way.
