Grand Rapids--A new Mexican eatery has opened in the 18-hundred block of Plainfield Avenue NE. La Huasteca is the name of a water fall in the Mexican region of the owner's homeland. Free taco's and bottles of water were given out last weekend at the grand opening according the the manager Flor'. Several "Mom and Pop" type hot dog, sandwich and ice cream shops have tried and failed in this same location in recent years. Flor' insists "they will be around for a while". The new restaurant serves traditional Mexican fare such as tostada's, enchilada's and chips with guacamole and has a multi generational family atmoshpere. Flor's little son was peeking out from behind the counter while an elderly relative prepared the authentic meals.
