April 1 Fish Fry at St. Alphonsus Church

As if the sun rays beating down and birds chirping weren't enough to make my day, I realized its April 1st. Not only do I get to pull fun practical jokes the ENTIRE day but I also get to take my family to the lent fish fry at St. Alphonsus Church. It's one of the best meals you can get for $8.00 and includes all you can eat baked or fried walleye, baked potato or French fries, cole slaw, mac and cheese, sour dough rolls and homemade desserts. *Grilled cheese is also available for non fish eaters.

Plans for Grand Rapids casino discussed

ROMULUS, Mich. (AP) -- Supporters of a plan to open new casinos in Detroit, Grand Rapids, Lansing and four other cities across the state are expected to discuss the issue at a Thursday afternoon press conference in Romulus.

"Michigan is Yours" says in a release that its ballot initiative focuses on expanding the number of casinos to help build the state's economy.

The plan also calls for new casinos in Romulus, Saginaw, Benton Harbor and Mount Clemens. The casino effort failed to make the 2010 state ballot.

Detroit already has three casinos. New casinos could require the approval of Michigan voters, as well as other state or federal approval, depending on details of how they might be run.
